The Colour of Mortar

Our trip to Quebec City during extreme weather conditions turned out not to be so bad. The city is nice, but I would choose Gdańsk over it. I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought those two places were comparable. We saw some pretty masonry assemblies as well!

Masonry Field Trip

Our masonry design class visited a masonry workshop, where I got to try laying bricks for an unreinforced wall and quickly learned how much skill the craft requires. It was a challenging but inspiring experience that made me appreciate masonry as both a building technique and an important part of historic preservation.
